Day 1 – Nairobi – Lake Baringo
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, on arrival at Jomo Kenya International Airport, meet and assist by Speedbirds Representative. Start the road trip for the Kenyan Lakes Tour then arrive in Baringo in time for lunch at the Samatian Island lodge. The small and exclusive Lodge is set on a small private island on Lake Baringo in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.
Afternoon at leisure of you can engage at some activities available here.
Dinner & overnight at Samatian Island Lodge.
Day 2 – Lake Baringo
Full day spent here. The beauty of Baringo is legendary, with its spectacular sunsets, dazzling array of bird life, and the Njemps fishermen continuing a lifestyle little changed for over 200 years. Lake Baringo is also a Ramsar site, having been recognized internationally as a vitally important wetland. You will have an opportunity to experience this first hand.
Dinner and overnight at the Roberts island camp.
Day 3 Lake Baringo – Lake Nakuru
Breakfast. Check out. Proceed to lake Nakuru National Park which is also a Ramsar Site. Arrival in time for Lunch. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Early evening game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park is home to countless flamingos and other bird and animal life. Its also is a sanctuary for endangered black and white rhinos.
Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Camp.
Day 4. Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the base of the Menengai Crater. A morning guided walk in the crater where we will enjoy the beautiful contrasts of nature: rocks that have stood the test of time, natural springs with mirror clear water, lava that reminds us that this is the Rift Valley and baboons trooping around with their babies. For birders, though this area is not yet listed as a hot spot in Kenya birding tours, its mixed habitat of rocks, patch grass land, scattered bushes and natural springs have interesting bird life such as Yellow Bishop, Pin-tailed Whydahs, Streaky Seedeater, Schalow’s Wheatear, Scarlet-chested Sunbird, Hunter’s Sunbird, Yellow-throated Longclaw, Red-cheeked Cordon-bleu, Purple Grenadier and the elusive Cinnamon-breasted Rock Bunting among others. In the late afternoon drive to the shores of Lake Naivasha, which is one of the highest and purest of the Rift Valley lakes. Overnight in a lodge/camp.
Day 5 Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara.
Check out and traverse the Rift Valley, arrival in the afternoon in time for Lunch. You have an opportunity to experience the masai’s way of life. Their co existence with the wildlife and more so how they live unmoved by the presence of the large predators. Afternoon game drive. Dinner & overnight at Lodge/Camp.
Day 6 – Masai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives in this spectacular game reserve, all with superb photographic opportunities. The most spectacular feature is the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from the plains of Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara’s grasslands from late June, tracked by predators: lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and circled by vultures as the journey unfolds. Apart from the seasonal migration, game viewing is excellent year round. Game includes: – elephant, Black Rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra, hartebeest, various antelope and gazelle, lion, leopard, giraffe, elephant cheetah, hippo, crocodile and much more. Dinner & overnight at Lodge/Camp.
Day 7 – Masai Mara – Nairobi.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Nairobi arriving early afternoon to mark the end of the Kenyan Lakes Tour. Transfer to the airport to catch the outbound flight and extension to the Kenyan coast for a beach holiday.
